Some Leaders tend to be led by ‘Head’ values & others by ‘Heart’ values.Today, as we face constant change neither approach is sufficient in itself. The right blend of both is needed to be an effective communicator. Values are a set of beliefs that no matter what circumstance you encounter you won’t compromise on them. Examples include -Hard work, Empathy etc..
Today when Leaders are faced with difficult employee conversations, it’s their ability to strike the right blend (between ‘Head’ & ‘Heart’ values) that enables concise yet empathetic communication
If Leaders are too led by ‘Heart’ values they’ll never get to these conversations as they’ll be too focused on the impact on the recipient. Equally, if their values are ‘Head’ led mostly, their messaging will be too blunt & lack empathy
